Alexander Ross Gilbert is a Labor and Employment Law Associate with the Gilbert Law Group who represents both private and public sector clients in all Labor and Employment Law, Education Law, and Civil Service Law matters. His experience encompasses a wide range of matters in the employer-employee relationship, including wage and hour disputes, discrimination, retaliation, termination, breach of employment agreements, restrictive covenants, family and medical leave, independent contractor classifications, labor relations, employment policies, health and safety, unfair labor practices, separation and severance agreements, executive compensation, non-competition and confidentiality agreements.

Prior to joining the firm, Alex earned a B.S. from the Pennsylvania State University where he earned placement on the Dean’s List. While attending Penn State, Alex developed a keen interest in information law and data management while majoring in Information Sciences and Technology.

Following his graduation from Penn State University, Alex worked at various law firms. His work concentrated exclusively in Labor and Employment Law. During this time, Alex’s legal work focused on discrimination law, unfair labor practices, and wage and hour pay issues. Further, Alex assisted in litigation and collective bargaining negotiations. It was during this time that his passion for law in the workplace burgeoned.

After a year of working as a legal assistant, Alex attended Benjamin N. Cardozo Law School in Manhattan where he excelled earning a Juris Doctor degree. While balancing a heavy course-load, Alex maintained various positions at an Immigration Law firm and a non-profit Digital Rights organization. He also became an active member of the Intellectual Property and Information Law Fellowship, Cardozo Data Law Initiative, Cardozo Intellectual Property Law Society, Cardozo Technology Start-Up Society, Suspension Representation Project, and the Art Law Society.

Alex utilized the skills he acquired as a Forensic Technology Associate at one of the largest accounting and financial services firms in the world, KPMG. In that capacity, Alex focused on managing complex litigation databases with various e-Discovery protocols and performing ongoing legal research regarding amendments to the Federal Rules of Civil Procedure and other laws and regulations.

Here at Gilbert Law Group, Alex handles all aspects of Labor and Employment matters in various agencies, and federal and state trial and appellate courts. He also provides counsel to clients on a daily basis regarding a wide array of workplace issues and disputes.

Alex is a member of the American, New York State, Nassau and Suffolk County Bar Associations and is active in various sections, including their respective Labor and Employment Law committees.
